Celebrating five years of achievements - healthy and resiliant landscapes for NSW

Over the past five years thirteen CMAs in NSW, together with their local communities, have made significant achievements in protecting and improving natural landscapes across the State. These regional organisations have motivated, supported and funded local communities to deliver over 13,000 projects, large and small.

Against a backdrop of the worst drought in living memory, the combined positive impact of this work is impressive. Projects have taken place in virtually every corner of the State, as communities and individuals have applied local knowledge, skills and their own resources to improve the natural environments in which they live.

This Five Year Review celebrates the successes of the CMAs and their communities over the past five years, and showcases some inspiring tales from the people of NSW who, through innovation and hard work, have turned significant government investment into real environmental action.

Have your say in identifying local environmental assets

The Central West Catchment Management Authority is seeking to work with all interested community members to identify the key natural resource assets in the Central West Catchment.

We are aiming to review our Catchment Action Plan (CAP) and attract funding to protect and improve the environmental features that we most value. The first part of this process is to find out about the region’s most valued environmental assets.

You are invited to a community meeting to share information about what you value most about your local environment.

Macquarie Blue Paddle-a-thon

Th Macquarie Blue Paddle-a-thon event forms part of the Macquarie RiverSmart initiative (www.riversmart.org.au), helping people from the region to gain a better understanding of the river and the roles they can play in its revival. The event is also about having fun, getting some exercise in the great outdoors and learning to appreciate why healthy rivers help support healthy communities.

The major sponsor of the event is the Central West Catchment Management Authority. The support of Wellington Council, Dubbo Council and Dubbo Canoe Club is appreciated.

The paddle-a-thon is not a race. It’s about appreciating the values of the river in a safe, friendly and relaxing environment. You will be able to find out things about the river from our paddling experts, be entertained at night, have your meals prepared for you along the way with a finalé community concert by the river in Dubbo.
